8.5 Mile Training Walk - Saturday June 25, 2011

White Plains Golf Course to La Plata

This is an 8.5 Mile training walk. We will be starting at the White Plains Golf Course (White Plains, MD), and following the bike/jog/walking trail (asphalt) to the Giant in LaPlata, MD. There are moderate hills throughout the walk.
We will take a "pit stop" at the Giant in LaPlata (4.25mile) for a bathroom break, rehydrating, and stretching before heading back. 

We will be meeting in the top parking lot of the White Plains Golf Course (in front of the clubhouse) and will do a 10 min stretch session, review safety tips, answer any questions before starting out on the walk.  Each walker will be required to complete the Training Walk Waiver prior to the walk. 

It's summertime and will be warm -- (high for the day is expected to be around 87). Remember to bring your water/gatorade and a light snack. Hydration and "energy" are super important when doing distance walking. Be sure to always have your ID with you and you may want to bring a small amount of money if you are going to need to purchase drinks/snacks at the Giant.
